Social mobilisation

Social mobilization is one of the tools used by La Voix de l'Immigrant (LVI) to bring its members together and organize collectively to conduct a campaign or struggle, in this case, advocacy for facilitating access to Quebec professional orders for workers with foreign degrees who are victims of systemic discrimination.

In the current context of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), mobilization continues through virtual means primarily with our members and sometimes also with the wider community of newcomers to Quebec.

Thus, over time, the mobilization work of the Voice of the Immigrant (LVI) has taken different forms, resulting in various actions aimed at engaging the public, Quebec government authorities, and other bodies.

  • Phone call;

  • Holding a booth at the summer cultural festivals organized by the organization "Village Molokai" in collaboration with the City of Gatineau;

  • Signing petitions in support of the organization's mission, etc.

Recent examples of social mobilization

During COVID-19, LVI raised awareness and encouraged its members to respond in large numbers to the "I CONTRIBUTE!" campaign.

LVI launched its own campaign to include internationally trained healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19 in Quebec's long-term care facilities and hospitals – 82 healthcare professionals (doctors and nurses) responded positively to the awareness campaign.
